Rupert Murdoch:Media Mogul not fit to run his company

“We conclude that Rupert Murdoch is not a fit to run the stewardship of a major international company” is the conclusion British Parliament Culture Media and Sports committee probing the phone hacking case has said in their published report. On page 74 of the report the last paragraph say’s

“On the basis of the facts and evidence before the Committee, we conclude that, if at all relevant times Rupert Murdoch did not take steps to become fully informed about phone-hacking, he turned a blind eye and exhibited wilful blindness to what was going on in his companies and publications. This culture, we consider, permeated from the top throughout the organisation and speaks volumes about the lack of effective corporate governance at News Corporation and News International. We conclude, therefore, that Rupert Murdoch is not a fit person to exercise the stewardship of a major international company”.

The report has not only said that Rupert Murdoch is unfit to exercise the stewardship of a major international company but also said condemned for his wilful blindness to what is happening in his Companies. Overall the Parliament Culture Media and Sports committee has said that willful blindness is the part of the culture of News Corporation and News International and it flows from top to the lower management. If we read the lines carefully, the committee has blamed Rupert Murdoch to create such culture as a leader which employee followed.

The committee has also specifically said that Rebekah Brook who was Editor when Milly Dowler’s phone hacking incident happened should accept the responsibility of those actions which permitted  the hacking incident.

At last of the report The British Parliament committee has pointed out following conclusion

1-Les Hilton, Tom Crone and Colin Myler has misled the committee.

2-News corporation and News International has misled the Committee. At last the reports ends with “Rupert Murdoch and James Murdoch should ultimately be prepared to take responsibility”
