Apple will drop Google Maps in iOS 6

Apple is going to drop Google maps from iOS 6 in favor of the home-grown map application. The story is broken by Marc gurman of 9to5mac. As per 9to5mac the story backed by trusted sources says

[highlighter color="gray" ] Apple will drop the Google Maps program running on iOS since 2007 in favor for a new Maps app with an Apple backend. The application design is said to be fairly similar to the current Google Maps program on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, but it is described as a much cleaner, faster, and more reliable experience”.[/highlighter]

In past Apple bought three companies Placebase, C3 technologies and Poly 9  and has used them to prepare 3D mapping database. We would like to point out that  it may be Apple in-house map application will  provide far better experience than Google but “Can Apple map application search better than Google?”.

It is indeed clear that there are only two OS “Android and iOS” which is competing in Smartphone ecosystem. Android has not only proved itself as a successful competitor but there are chances that down the line Android will outsmart Apple.

Here’s a video of c3 technologies from YouTube which showcase their stunning 3D mapping capabilities. Apple is sidelining Google maps and introducing in house map application after doing a 360 degree evaluation of their app.

There are some question which are left unanswered for me is?

1. Apple in house mapping application has mapped all the major market of Apple in world.

2. The new app will provide the same level of flexibility and capacity in searching which Google maps has provided.

3. The application will be a paid application or free application? If it is paid then why people should use it instead of Google maps which is free and proved its credibility in providing the services.

All the above question will be answered when iOS6 will be launched and how user reacts to it.
