Microsoft to buy Yammer in $1 billion

Microsoft is in talk with Yammer to buy them in more than $1 billion. There is no final confirmation from Microsoft or Yammer side but echo on blog circle is that deal is in final stage or finalized. The season of billion dollars buyout and losses are on roll. The Wall Street Journal has confirmed the news. Wall Street Journal reported

“Business-software company Yammer Inc. agreed to sell itself to Microsoft Corp. for more than $1 billion, according a person familiar with the matter, in a sign Microsoft may be trying to plug holes in its ubiquitous Office software.”

Yammer is known as Facebook inc. It is a secure and private social network for companies and more than 200,000 companies are the member of this social network. As per Yammer more than 85% of the fortune five hundred companies are using their award winning software Software as a Service solution to improve employment productivity and engagement. Yammer offer’s a basic services in free and has three paid services.

Big giants of software industry are in shopping mode. Oracle bought virtue in $300 million, Salesforce.com bought Buddy Media and now Microsoft. Yammer is the first big shot from the world of Social Media which Microsoft has acquired.

Yammer is the fastest growing enterprise software company in the world. Yammer raised $142 million from venture firms. Yammer has some interesting relationship with Facebook.

-Facebook’s Founding President, Sean Parker serves on Yammer’s Board of Directors.

-Yammer and Facebook share the same first investor, Peter Thiel; backed by Social+Capital Partnership – a fund established by former Facebook Vice President, Chamath Palihapitiya.
